Curiosity sees Earth

Curiosity has been strolling around planet Mars since 2012 to study the red planet. Sometimes he takes some selfies (these younglings...) and other pictures to give us some insight of how small we are in this world.

See that dot over there? Well, it's kinda hard to spot it, so the guys at NASA made it somewhat easy to tell by doing this:

That tiny dot is the Earth.

It really makes me feel quite small... The researchers used the left eye camera of the rover's Mast Camera to capture the image, 80 minutes after sunset of his 529th Martian day (Jan. 31, 2014 to us, mortals) and then processed to remove the effects of cosmic rays. Earth and the Moon look like two bright evening stars, if it were a human observer there. Oh, and they are 160 million kilometres away from Mars.
