Apple Autumn/Winter Collection: Take 2

Today, Apple unveiled some new gadgets to add to their family of products. To be honest, the most talked product isn't the one that amazes me. The iPad Mini was more than a rumour and now it "comes to life". Although, a bit too late (at least in my opinion).

Let's be fair: we know that it will be a smash hit. But it's nothing that we haven't already seen... And again they came with the argument that you can hold it with one hand (the iPhone 5 fits "magically"). Sorry to burst your bubble: it doesn't. My hands are waaaay too small to hold my 4 inch screen smartphone, how could I hold a 7.9 inch iPad Mini with one hand like that in the picture? The prices start at $329.

So, besides the iPad Mini, the 4th (yes, the 4th) generation iPad was introduced 6 months after releasing the New iPad. This one is just a bit faster and has the new Lightning connector. Prices start at $500.

But what blew me away was this thingy:

The iMac went on a strict diet and appeared like this. It looks scary thin, but yes, it's beautiful. I work on a 2006 white iMac and it still amazes me how beautiful it is. This one is a gem... A 5mm thin gem. The hardware was updated too, of course. Quad-core i5 and i7 processors, up to 32GB of RAM and a Fusion Drive. It's a 128GB solid state drive mated with a much larger normal hard drive to make performance better without sacrificing storage space. Prices for the 21.5-inch model start at $1300 and the 27-inch model at $1800.

There's also an update to the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Retina Display, half the thickness (0.75 inches), it's lighter, more storage, more processor options and more ports. The prices start at $1700 (ouch!).

Last, but not least, there's a new Mac Mini. It's got new Ivy Bridge processors, 256GB of SSD storage or up to 2TB of HDD storage. Prices start at $600.
